May’s aides were abusive..

May’s aides were abusive..

My heart fucking bleeds for those poor poor Tory MPs.

A reminder:

Each additional 10 000 people reassessed in each area was associated with an additional 6 suicides (95% CI 2 to 9), 2700 cases of reported mental health problems (95% CI 548 to 4840), and the prescribing of an additional 7020 antidepressant items (95% CI 3930 to 10100). The reassessment process was associated with the greatest increases in these adverse mental health outcomes in the most deprived areas of the country, widening health inequalities.

“the WCA disability reassessment process during this period was associated with an additional 590 suicides”

DWP Hires Miracle Lifestyle Guru Who Claims 95% Success Rate In Curing Mental Health Conditions!

Oh for fucks sake why don’t we just start hiring witchdoctors. We have the NHS, and as pissed about as it that is where health should be treated, not the job centre. We don’t give NHS treatment under the threat of taking your income away. You won’t cure mental illness by threatening people.

So this cunt would be able to stop someone :

1) throwing herself off a bridge because if the bedroom tax
2) setting himself on fire due to rent arrears.
3) dying from diabetic ketoacidosis, penniless and alone, by a pile of CVs.

Forcing people with serious medical and mental health conditions into the hands of charlatans who will not cure them, but will then blame them and cut their income is not the way forward.

What next homoeopathy for broken legs….

And what is worse is the number of everyday people who agree with this shit because they somehow think it will get chavs into jobs that don’t exist….

“It is not the job of the NAO to scream and shout. But the rest of us can and should make as much noise as possible about how Duncan Smith and his ministers are cheerfully implementing policies that punish the most vulnerable in our society”

On Benefits Documentaries

October 15, 2013 1 comment

It strikes me that if you are going to do a documentary about benefits: and not a Tory party sponsored propaganda piece you might mention the following.

:- the official stats that demonstrate the thousands of people have died within weeks of being declared fit-for-work by ATOS
:- the DWP is now trying to avoid collecting these figures as they show they are in the wrong
:- that the ESA WCA process assumes a physiotherapist is better qualified to make a judgement on mental health conditions than a GP with seven years training.
:- the same ATOS-WCA process has been declared illegal for mental health conditions, but is still being applied.
:- Both IDS and Shapps have been slapped down by the official UK stats body for lying about benefits.
:- in the last fortnight 165,000 people earning over £50,000 a year are now potentially fraudulently claiming Child Benefit.
:- That IDS has openly admitted to benefit fraud in the early eighties
:- former employment minister Grayling got taxpayers to buy him a £100K flat because travelling from Westminster to Epsom (about 7.50 on the tube) was too much for him
:- Osborne has fraudulently used taxpayers money to make money on essential housing costs of a paddock
:- the red cross have started a food bank initiative for the first time since the war, Gove a private school educated ex-Times journalist says this is because of bad choices.  Not mentioning the £7K he illegally claimed from taxpayers to buy furniture from Cameron’s (his boss) mother in law.
:- that ATOS a French IT company have been censured by the DWP for poor performance.
:-the DWP has wasted between £30-161 million on yet another failed IT system
:- IDS believes it is acceptable for people to be forced to take a zero hours contract, therefore simultaneously saying they don’t get paid or get benefits.
:- A4E are being prosecuted for fraudulently claiming they found people jobs, when all they did was sign up people with job offers
:- David Laws paid his lover over £40K in rent from taxpayers funds, stepped down and then when the fuss died down got a promotion
:- millionaire Cameron has claimed the non means tested DLA for two relatives
:- that the Daily Express thought it was okay to quote Nazi prison camp slogans about the value of work on articles about unemployment.

Of course if you want your prejudices tickled whilst we are taken back to Victorian labour conditions then do so.   But remember a channel 5 documentary is acting as an arm of the Daily Express.  Who act as the propaganda arm of an unelected government.  The same government who are spinning a narrative that includes cutting armed forces, police, fire, health, education, well everything yet still printing £375 billion and handing it over to the banks that caused the crisis through often through fraud and certainly through bad practice.

Initial thoughts on Gideon’s support for mental health and addiction claimants…

September 30, 2013 Leave a comment

The independent reports that “A mandatory intensive regime for claimants with underlying problems such as mental health, drug addiction or illiteracy”

Can we start moving against this?   How the hell will low paid, low qualified job centre staff willing to collaborate with the nastiness demonstrated by IDS Osborne and others deal with mental health and addiction issues with sensitivity?   What right, qualification, or remit do the DWP and Treasury have to override GPs, Health Service and specialist charities expertise. The current WCA /ESA scheme is already making people more ill.  How the hell will being bullied by unqualified staff help someone be cured? Coming days after Cameron and Pickles deeply insensitive comments what is next public shaming of ESA claimants with mental health of addiction issues?

Barbara Ellen: Bedroom tax row: welcome to modern Britain, home of the boor

September 15, 2013 Leave a comment

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/15/bedroom-tax-un-investigator-hostile-politicians

How embarrassing that some members of the government appear to have behaved in the manner of uncouth thugs – and towards someone representing the UN, which dared to question the bedroom tax.

Brazilian UN investigator Raquel Rolnik says she has never faced such an aggressive, hostile reaction from a country. Conservative chairman Grant Shapps, seemingly incandescent, has written a complaint to the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, insisting that Rolnik withdraw her report as it is politically biased and she had not met relevant ministers or officials to discuss the policy. Iain Duncan Smith, work and pensions secretary, agreed, saying that Rolnik had undermined the impartial reputation of the UN.

Another Tory MP, Stewart Jackson, called Rolnik a “loopy Brazilian leftie with no evidence masquerading as a serious UN official”. Sections of the media dubbed Rolnik a “Brazil nut”, who once dabbled in voodoo, offering animal sacrifices to Karl Marx. There were other suggestions that Rolnik might want to sort out Brazil before she came meddling in British housing – ahem, kind of missing the point of the UN there, folks!

What provoked such a reaction? Is Rolnik really a “Brazil nut” or a UN special rapporteur, with five years’ experience of carrying out housing investigations in countries such as the US, Croatia, Argentina, Israel, Rwanda, Palestine, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Israel and Algeria? During her visit to Britain to investigate social housing (organised, she claims, by the UK government in order to demonstrate that it was fulfilling its obligations to the UN Convention on Human Rights), Rolnik visited various British cities (Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh). She met council officials and media outlets, and set up meetings with Eric Pickles, secretary of state for communities and local government, under secretary Don Foster and other officials, all, she says, listed in her report.

The trouble started when Rolnik observed that the bedroom tax (where people must pay for “spare” rooms through a deduction in their housing benefit) is causing great hardship and distress to the most vulnerable. Some people she spoke to were in tears; some said they even contemplated suicide, because they had nowhere to downsize to – owing to a shortage of smaller housing. Rolnik said that the bedroom tax could represent a violation of human rights and that Britain, which formerly held a good record on social housing, could face “going backwards in the protection and promotion of the human right to housing”.

After she’d been attacked, Rolnik commented: “It was the first time a government has been so aggressive. When I was in the US, I had a constructive conversation with them, accepting some things and arguing with others. They did not react like this”.

Oh dear. Welcome to 21st-century Britain, Ms Rolnik. This is where the embarrassment sets in. Rolnik makes it quite clear that she is fine with debate and also dissent. It is the hostility and aggression that she is astounded by. During her visit to the US, they had a discussion and came to considered conclusions, like… what are they called again?… grown-ups! In Britain, Rolnik was denounced, smeared, name-called, basically bullied and all but dunked into a pond to check if she was a witch.

Don’t politicians have a duty to exercise a modicum of self-control? However upset they were by criticisms of the bedroom tax, it’s the way they reacted to criticism that is key here. It would be nice if our representatives could be trusted to be statesmanlike, at least professional and dignified. Even nicer, if someone from the UN didn’t go back with the news that members of the British government were the most aggressive and hostile she’d ever encountered. As I said, embarrassing.

This was the behaviour of small-minded bullies who prefer to go about their grubby business under the cover of national darkness and who don’t appreciate someone coming in from the outside world and turning all the lights on.

Cool they can send Prince Harry on this course.

Etiquette rule 1: Don;t wear Nazi regalia to parties.
Etiquette rule 2: Don;t get your cock out in front of strangers on a tax payer funded holiday.

F*ck knows how they will teach the Bullingdon Club manners!
