The Afiya Trust will be developing a programme of anti–stigma and discrimination service user activities aimed at BME communities, employers and the media.

 

 

 

Vacancy: BME Mental Health Anti-Stigma Co-ordinator

£28,000 per annum (pro rata)
21hrs per a week
18 month fixed contract

We are seeking a coordinator who is committed to highlighting and informing on issues of stigma and discrimination within BME Mental Health. This new post is funded by Time to Change, England’s biggest programme to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. The programme is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, and funded by the Department of Health and Comic Relief.

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of senior leadership within public or voluntary sectors, conveying an enthusiasm and ability to drive forward the BME mental health agenda
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of black and minority ethnic (BME) communities health issues particularly relating to Mental Health
  • Being self-motivated and skilled at networking
  • Knowledge of recent developments in health and social care
  • Skills at chairing meetings at operational levels
  • Experienced and confident speaking in public, in order to represent The Afiya Trust effectively
  • Experience of fundraising
  • Service user experience will be essential
